Using AMD box fan and high speed CPU (eg: AthlonXP 2100+,2200+ or above ...), sometimes the system will shut down automatically or be unstable. This maybe bad contact between CPU and heatsink, therefore CPU is overheated after power on and unstable. Gigabyte mainboards has thermal protection function so system is shutdown automatically to protect the CPU from burn out. Suggestion: [1] Install the heatsink at 2nd time may create some space between CPU and heatsink, thus cause bad contact then overheat. Please remove the thin pink thermal pad completely from the heatsink, then apply thermal paste (heat dissipating gel). Make sure CPU is in good contact with the heatsink. Or [2] Please read and follow instructions from AMD website on How do I clean used phase change material off of my processor and heatsink/fan? http://139.95.253.21...,Case=obj(2510) How do I install a Socket A AMD processor and heatsink? http://139.95.253.21...,Case=obj(2502) Or [3] May try a 3rd party heatsink. |
